Rod Laver Arena
Part of Melbourne’s sporting and entertainment precinct Rod Laver Arena forms part of Melbourne and Olympic Parks, a union of the two sporting precincts which took place in 1995. Completed, the National Tennis Centre's Centre Court was renamed Rod Laver Arena in 2000 as a tribute to Australia's greatest male tennis player who won an unprecedented two Grand Slams.
Seating up to 15,000, Rod Laver Arena has seen some amazing sporting and entertainment moments. Most famously, in January of each year it is home to the Australian Open, the nation’s biggest sporting event which sees tennis’ elite from around the globe battle it out for the prestigious title and over 20 million dollars in prize money.
For the rest of the year the arena hosts the world's greatest performers including Pink, the Rolling Stones, Billy Joel and our very own Kylie Minogue.
